The 2013 European FITASC Compak Clay Shooting Championship was won by George Digweed, after a thrilling weekend of Shooting at the TAV San Martino Rio Salso di Tavullia in Italy.
George shot an incredible 198 ex 200 – dropping only two shots on his way to his latest championship, in second place was Richard Faulds who took silver after a close run shoot-off with Marco Battisti of Italy. The Great Britain 1st and 2nd was supported by Mark Winser in 8th place and Cheryl Hall in joint 10th overall.
The Ladies Champion was Cheryl Hall, followed by Martina Maruzzo and Celine Rodde of France. Italian shooter Mattia Cecchetti took the Junior prize on 191ex200, with Jakob Iversen in 2nd, and Christian Pedersen in 3rd (both from Denmark) – a notable GB performance was Taylor Hedgecock in his first European championship – shooting 185 to take Joint 9th place.
Veterans 1st place went to Stephen Grant on 189, followed by the French pairing of Alain Marcheron and Jean Francois Loyen in 2nd and 3rd respectively. SuperVets was won by the indomitable John Bidwell, with Alain Reyna and Enzo Gibellini in 2nd and 3rd places.
Team honours were decided as follows:
- Seniors : 1st – France / 2nd – Italy /3rd – Portugal
- Juniors : 1st – Denmark / 2nd – Italy / 3rd – Austria
- Ladies : 1st – Italy / 2nd – Spain / 3rd – France
- Veterans : 1st – France / 2nd – Great Britain / 3rd – Italy
- Super Veterans : 1st – Great Britain / 2nd – Italy / 3rd – France
